Community Connect Awarded €5,000 to Support Ireland’s First Baby Bank

Community Connect receives boost from the Benefact Group’s Movement for Good Awards

Families across Ireland will benefit from a major act of generosity, as Community Connect, the country’s first Baby Bank charity, has been awarded €5,000 in the latest Movement for Good Awards draw, supported by Ecclesiastical Insurance Ireland.

The charity, with hubs in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Kilkenny, and Athlone, is dedicated to helping expectant mothers and new parents by providing practical support and essential baby supplies. From nappies and clothing to prams, blankets and hygiene products, Community Connect ensures that no child is left without the basics needed for a safe and healthy start in life.

A baby bank with a big heart

Community Connect is the first initiative of its kind in Ireland. Often described as a “Baby Bank,” it collects and redistributes both new and pre-loved baby items to families experiencing hardship. Volunteers across its five hubs play a crucial role in easing the financial and emotional pressures that come with welcoming a new baby.

Thanks to this €5,000 award, the charity will be able to expand its reach, deliver more baby bundles to parents in need, and respond to the growing demand from communities across Ireland.

Elaine Noonan, CEO of Community Connect, said:
“This support means the world to us. Every day we meet families who are struggling to provide even the basics for their children. With this funding, we can deliver more baby bundles filled with essentials, but just as importantly, we can offer parents relief and dignity. It is a lifeline for families and a hopeful beginning for newborns.”

Supporting communities, supporting children

David Lane, Managing Director of Ecclesiastical Ireland, added:
“Community Connect is an extraordinary example of how compassion can be turned into action. Their work with pregnant women and young families is both innovative and inspiring, and we are proud to help them continue their vital mission. Every child deserves the best possible start in life.”

Why it matters

Ireland is seeing a rising need for grassroots initiatives that offer direct, tangible help to families. Charities like Community Connect bridge the gap by providing more than just supplies — they create a network of solidarity, ensuring no parent feels alone when times are tough.

With the support of the Movement for Good Awards, Community Connect can continue to grow its impact, one baby bundle at a time.
